And then there were...

100!!!!!

YES!!! This is my 100th glorious post over here at Carrie On and I'm excited to have obtained this magical moment on the very day that Brian and I closed on our cute little house 1 year ago!! We've officially been home owners for 1 entire year. And so far, only the boiler, the bathroom sink, and the fridge have broken. Let's hope there are fewer maintenance issues in year two ;)

Closing day 2009.

Celebrating amidst the boxes.

I don't really have anything special to write about today in honor of my 100th post. Life has continued as usual for us around these parts, so that's as good a reason to write as any. Deuce had a minor encounter with the emergency vet clinic last week (he had crystals in his wee wee and had to have emergency surgery to remove them) but he is doing much better now. He's been sporting a pretty sweet cone and has actually managed to keep it on for an entire week. He's one tough cookie. However, if this whole crystal-in-the-wee-wee thing happens again, they will actually remove his manly parts and give him some sort of prosthetic. Yikes to that on SO MANY levels...

Totally drugged out and rocking the kitty catheter.

A slightly more dignified smaller cone.

So anyways, here's to 100 more posts...and hundreds more beyond that! Time to celebrate...

Fifty Five Senses

Holy yowzers I have reached 50 WHOLE FOLLOWERS!!! Seriously I heart you people. I know my friends and fam read this blog (which is wonderous...I love you all), but I also love the fact that I am able to provide a bit of entertainment for random people all over the globe. So keep on keepin on!!! Really, I'm blushing..

And now I will provide you with my take on "five senses Fridays", one of those "meme" things.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself....

Right now I am Tasting...A delicious Malbec. My wine of choice. Not sure of the brand and I'm a bit too lazy to get up and check, but I promise it's good.

Right now I am Hearing... Brian's annoying laugh as he watches some stand-up comedy thing on the computer. I really can't explain to you how annoying it is to have someone laugh and random moments . I can't see what he is watching so I just have to suffer through the laughs. (I am also currently turning the volume up on the TV to drown out said laughs).

Right now I am Smelling... Mr. Chips' gross breath. He keeps yawning and invading my personal air space. He looks like this:

Stench attack!!

Hopefully he is just yawning and not planning to latch on to my neck

Ok now we are crossing the line.

Right now I am seeing Seeing...this computer screen obviously. And sort of watching HGTV at the same time. Although I must say I'm not a huge fan of "The Unsellables." This chick's voice is super annoying.

Right now I am Feeling...relaxed and happy. But maybe that's just the Malbec talking. I kid. It's Friday, how can I NOT be happy?! Tomorrow I begin my New Year's resolution with a smokin hot batch of ROOTBEER CUPCAKES. Other then that, not much on the agenda, and it feels great.

Happy weekend oh loyal followers, I heart you times infinity.

Fabulous Carrie

Just like any other "normal" 20-something, I love me some Sex and the City and I'm super excited for movie numero deux to come out in May. Please observe this promo poster that my bff Mandizzle brought to my attention (sidenote - she is the reason I blog...she is the ORIGINAL blogger. But, sadly for you, her thoughts are private. Talk about juicy, I'm lucky I get to tune in! I also love me some Mandy).

Do you see the tagline?!?!?!?! Not only do I have a "famous" name, but my BLOG TITLE is also featured. Raise the roof.

In other news, my Analytics is indicating some more exciting new blog searches. I completely realize that by blogging about these keywords, I am creating more of an opportunity for people to find the blog by those terms. But whatevs. They are funny.

"Granddad's Sweet Tea" has directed not one, not two, not three, but FOUR visits to this blog. Is this some sort of delicious recipe that I am missing out on?!

Thanks to my DIY C-section antics, blog discoveries have been made by people searching: "twilight teeth c section," "c section with vampire teeth", and simply "diy c section" (holla!!).

Most excitingly, my freakish fake baby post lured in searches from, "baby batman," "fake baby," and my personal favorite, "fake baby heads". Does this mean that someone was actually searching for fake baby heads?!?!? Let's hope we can just chalk it up to good ole fashioned curiosity.

p.s. You are going to be completely blown away by my awesome DIY tacky Christmas sweater. I'm attending a little shindig tomorrow and couldn't resist the opportunity to go nuts with a costume. Two of my gfs and I really out tacked ourselves this year.

Here is a random photo for your viewing pleasure. Why? Because I can . TGIF people!

Imma tree. Those are my presents. XXXmas Party 2K6.

Extreme Makeover, Carrie On Edition

I know we all LOVE Google Reader (how else would I entertain myself while Brian watches ESPN?) but today is the day to LET GO and actually VISIT my blog. Why?!?! BECAUSE IT LOOKS PURDY NOW!!!!!
Nothing fancy-schmancy, but a huge improvement over the pink pepto-bismol-throw-up-fest that existed mere moments ago. And a big MUCHOS GRACIAS to the little bro for his help in making this overhaul possible. Tristan made the header happen - he even had to FIGHT Blogger to get the stupid thing to work. Sidenote - is it just me, or isn't Google supposed to be God?! Well then WHY is Blogger so freaking hard to use?! Come on Google! You make my life easy in so many ways, so stop "Waving" and make Blogger better!! And we're back - It is a miracle that I managed to change my sidebar titles all by myself. Just in case you don't feel like leaving the comforts of your Reader (booo on you!) here is the new header (with a convenient link to the brand schpanking new place).

GET IT!?!?!??!

In other news, I almost managed to ruin T-giving by allowing my AWESOME apple pie to overflow onto the bottom of the oven. Lots of smoke ensued and the fiasco set us back almost 2 hours. Oooops! Oh and in case you didn't catch that, I MADE A FREAKING PIE, amongst other things. Details to come...

Merci Beaucoup!

Roll out the red carpet...this chica has won some awards!!

Thanks for bearing with me oh-kind-and-generous-award givers, I am still trying to figure out how to make the little awards appear on my blog and I know it has taken me many moons (no, NOT New Moons, you crazy T-lite people) to officially thank you for nominating me. I know I am the most technologically UNSAVVY blogger ever, but I really do appreciate the kudos. Oh and I am finally mastering the art of scheduling my posts. Now I can write a few at a time and then BAM! shoot them to (all 30 of) your Google Readers randomly throughout the day.

Sorry, tangent.

So yes, I have been deemed worthy in the blogosphere by two very fantabulous bloggers, Shannon and Lindsay.  Fellow Phillies fan (yummm Jayson Werth) and ridiculously awesome DIY-er, Shannon, threw me my very first blog award...

How lovely! Hopefully the blog overhaul will actually make this little blog lovely enough to start looking at outside of your Reader. No crazy "rules" with this award, other than the fact that I have to pass it on, so here you go...

Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic (the orange blog header is most definitely LOVELY...swooon!)
Jacqueline @ l y m i b  (A fellow GRIT from the best state in all the land, North Carolina)
Susan @ Susan in the South (Another lovely selection...impeccable style here!)
Ashley @ I Love you more than Carrots (Certainly my most favorite blog title EVER)

As for my second nomination, I'd like to thank Lindsay , another new-ish blogger to the sphere (just like yours truly!). Drum roll please....

Holy Moly, I'm fabulous AND sugary!! Just out of curiosity, I had to google image Sugar Doll just to see what one might look like. Here is the creepy result:

Yikes?! I'm pretty sure that thing comes alive at night and bakes batches and batches of poisonous sugar cookies and then feeds them to the Bratz dolls...

But, alas, I digress. I am very excited that a fellow blogger thinks I am cool enough for an award and I will proceed with sticking to the sugary rules that come along with the nomination.  And now, 10 interesting facts about myself (hold on to your seats!).

  1. My first pets were two cats named Beavis and Oreo. Beavis passed away when I was in college and Oreo is still kickin it. I/We got them when I was 10.
  2. I used to have a "thing" about open doors. I couldn't stay in a room if the main door leading into it was open.
  3. Ham disgusts me. I can't even stand the smell of it. If ham has touched any part of what I am eating, you can forget about it.
  4. I have really terrible vision (my contacts are -6.75 if that means anything to you) and my eyes get SUPER red and dried out all the time. I often worry that people will think I am on drugs thanks to my bloodshot eyes.
  5. I have incredible patience (my mom taught me this invaluable life skill) and can deal with just about anything you throw my way.
  6. My feet are almost always icecubes.
  7. I am a really terrible cook. I can make some random and awesome dishes, but when it comes to day-t0-day meal preparation I have a giant FAIL stamped to my forehead. Thankfully I live with a culinary genius-by-comparison.
  8. One day, when I'm old enough (ha!) I want a cute little Pomchi to carry around with me wherever I go (a cross between a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua). Something like this, this, or this. I know it isn't the most brutal of dogs, but something has to even out the lab Brian plans to purchase one day.
  9. When I was about 6, I broke my right arm in a terrible biking accident (i.e. I skidded in the sand and fell over like a little wimpy girl). The weird bone that sticks out on my elbow on the inside of my arm basically stuck itself out and did all kinds of weird stuff. I don't remember much of the experience other than when the doctor tried to pop things back in place with his bare hands and while I was not under anesthesia. Jerk. I was in a cast for a long time. I vividly remember getting the cast off (they used a SAW!!!) and then looking at my freakishly atrophied twig arm. It was kind of like this (remember, I was SIX, that chick is just nasty).
  10. Thanks to aforementioned terrible biking accident, I am now quite close to actual ambidextrousness. I play the guitar left handed, I play basketball left handed, I cut food with the knife in my left hand (faux pas!), and I have decent left-handwriting. Not sure why all of these things decided to make the switch to the left side, but I must have started to morph into some sort of guitar-playing basketball-shooting superstar at the tender age of six.
As for passing on this sugary blog puppy, I think I will do it randomly and when you all least expect it. So stay tuned to the foreseeable future...

Overhaulin

Get ready for a serious blog overhaul around these parts. Over T-Giving "break" the lil bro and I are going to make this baby blog SHINE! He is super smart with all things technology and will be able to help me figure out how to tweek things a bit. We're probably talking baby steps here, but I hope the final product will be a vast improvement from my current template (I don't even know how to center my header, let alone make it clickable...oh well).

In other news, Hulu.com is the best site on the internet. Sorry FB and Twitter, you just can't entertain me like Hulu can. I've also gotten a kick out of Animoto.com lately.

In other, other news, our heat is STILL broken. I wish I could time travel back to 1920 when the sucker was installed so I could thumb through the owner's manual. According to the "Duct Truck" guy (teee heee) we are missing an entire PIPE from the boiler. How does that even happen?? He went to turn the thing on and water started spewing out of a wall across the room. Yeah, not so pretty. Looks like we are gonna have to pour some serious dough into this one UGH.

And finally, aren't my girlfriends FABULOUS?! Of course, not all of them are pictured here, but I just thought I'd say that I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!

The big 25 Celebration

Blog Weirdness

Please observe the most recent search terms that have directed people to this lovely little blog...

"All my hair off"

"Carrie"

"Chopped all my hair" (My hair is popular apparently)

"If the mood didn't exist stand up" (My very first search hit)

"Is absolutess a legitimate call job?" (This is just weird. My friend Tessa's "name" is Absolutess when she comments so I understand how this landed someone here. But what the heck does it really mean?!)

"Job gives me anxiety" (Haha geez so true)

"Like Forever 21" (more like DISLIKE Forever 21)

"Strange Urges" (This is probably my all time favorite. Someone Googled 'strange urges' and ended up RIGHT HERE with you!)

"What are trash TV programmes of 2009" (Looks like all my trash tv-talking is paying off)

Keep Googling, Binging, and Yahooing people...this is very entertaining.
